Arnold Michel Biography " I use the resources of America to help build up my beloved Haiti" Arnold Michel Arnold Michel is a man on the move...literally. From the age of fourteen he's been racing bikes, constantly challenging himself and others to attain higher levels of skill and speed. He even surprises himself at the limits he will push to be the best. Arnold enjoyed his position of being the youngest child in a prosperous family in northwestern Haiti. As the baby of the family, he was lavished with love and attention and he was provided with every opportunity to succeed. He did well in his hometown school of Cap Haitien, and in 1994, after graduating from high school, he moved on to study law at the University of Law, Science and Economics of Gonaives, in Port-aux-Prince. He also attended Miami Dade College to complete his pre-law requirements. Being a man not happy staying one place too long, Arnold decided to move into the working world without his degree, trusting in his smarts to land the job he wanted. He was hired by R.C.N. (Citizens Network), and then went to work for B.A.J.(Bureau Assistance Juridique) where he was an administrative assistant working in logistics. Since the turn of the century, Arnold has been experimenting with entrepreneurship. He has owned and operated various clubs and bars, and even tried his hand at the car rental business. When problems in business would arise, which invariably happens in Haiti, he would simply shut down and start a new endeavor. His latest project, which has become a labor of love for Arnold, is Kayanol Village Labadee. Kayanol Village in Labadee, (a short distance from Cap Haitien) is a Guest Home for travelers with a sense of adventure. It boasts ten cozy rooms with modern amenities such as air conditioning, DVD players, internet, and ensuite bath. There are four varying levels to Kayanol Village since it is built into the bottom of a mountain. On the first level is a newly completed entertainment area, with dance floor and refreshment bar. Various bands come and play here for Arnold's guests especially at holidays and festivals. The next level is the original bar and billiards club, and as one climbs up a bit more, you'll find the rooms, kitchen and a fantastic view of Labadee Bay and the ocean. Arnold is forever focused on improving his place and finding new ways to entice people to this beautiful part of the world. He enjoys the challenges, the ups and downs of business, and the creativity involved in making Kayanol a success...a pleasant place to be. Not surprisingly, being a man on the move, Arnold's other passion is travel. He loves to explore new places and find treasures from around the world. One of the things he treasures the most from his travels and from operating a guesthouse is the friendships he has formed with folks from Canada, the U.S. and of course, Haiti. Speaking of treasures, Arnold's jewel is his daughter, Tahyssa, born on September 11, 2003. "She is so interesting, I love her so much" he says of his little one. Arnold spends as much time as he can visiting and being a Dad to her. He hopes that when she is older she will come to spend time with him and discover her roots in Haiti. Arnold loves his country very much; he enjoys the freedom it offers him and the wonderful friends and family he has there. It doesn't cost a lot to live in Haiti, so he can save his money for the things that are most important to him and there are always opportunities to make a business work if you know how to go about it, which he does. What he hopes to give back to his country is the gift of education...he wants Haiti to experience the very freedom that it has given him. biography and biographies home page Copyright © 2004 biography-and-biographies.com
